Preparation Islands to Keep our Kitchen Organized on Busy Days

Kitchen Island RemodelWhenever you have a gathering or celebration, your kitchen is one of the most frequently used rooms in your house, and proper organization can help save you a lot of time. Whether you are preparing a quick bugger or cooking up a holiday feast, a well laid out kitchen can eliminate time wastage and reduce the chances of contamination.

One of the best ways to keep the kitchen clean and organized is by dividing your kitchen into preparation islands. Many commercial and busy kitchens typically set up isolated preparation stations for different kinds of food, and you can do this in your own home. It will be easier for you to set up food preparation islands if you have more space, though the same concept can be applied with small kitchens.

The most important thing is to create separate areas for ingredients that are cooked prior to serving, and those that are not. Have a separate area for preparing meat, seafood, and chicken, and another for preparing greens and salads to avoid cross-contamination.
