Can Children Stay at Home During a Remodel?

kids-at-remodelA major remodel, such as a kitchen remodel can’t help but disrupt your normal day-to-day routine. This can make things a little inconvenient for adults who decide to stay in a home during a remodel; but what about children? Is it safe for them to be in a home during a remodel?

That answer really depends on the age and maturity level of the children, as well as the nature of the remodel. If you have very young children and don’t have a way to keep them out of the remodeled area, then it is probably safest for them to spend some quality time with the grandparents or other family members while the remodel is ongoing. Likewise, if your kids are young enough to be home during the day, it’s probably a good idea to keep them out of the house while the contractors are actively on the property.

If your children are old enough and mature enough to follow your instructions to stay out of the remodeled section of the house, then it is likely safe for them to stay. Just keep an eye out to make sure they don’t become too curious!
